Day of Centering Prayer retreat
Embracing welcoming prayer in your contemplative practice
Service Description
On Saturday morning, March 2, Contemplative Outreach of Portland is offering another Day of Centering Prayer in Community in conjunction with the Franciscan Spiritual Center. In this half-day retreat the practice of the Welcoming Prayer will be highlighted. Welcoming Prayer is a way of letting go into the present moment in the ordinary routines of daily life. It is a prayerful practice of turning everything over to God. The practice will be taught by Vicki Hess-Smith, who was mentored by Mary Dwyer. Vicki is a Jungian therapist and Depth Psychologist deeply grounded in the Human Condition and Welcoming Prayer. Vicki also facilitates the Centering Prayer group, which meets at the Franciscan Center on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Doors open at 9 am. The program begins at 9:30 am. We will gather in Clark Commons on the former Marylhurst University campus. $20 is the suggested donation, which you may pay on the day of the event. Everyone is welcome regardless of their ability to pay. Contact Gini Graham at giniwg@gmail.com with any questions.
