Mystics in the Wild: Contemplative Walk

Service Description

Take your spiritual contemplation outside this summer! Join Christine Naylor as she facilitates a contemplative walking and reflection experience. This group will meet at the Franciscan Spiritual Center and then head out for a walk on the campus grounds of Marylhurst. While brief stops will be made, expect to be moving for 1.5 hrs. Together we will explore the practice of meditative walking, so this will differ from a regular hike or stroll. We will intentionally use all our senses, experiment with our pace, temporarily set aside our normal way of engaging one another, and carry the words of a mystic in our hearts. This walk will explore some of the forested trails on Marylhurst. Participants should be prepared to walk on unpaved trails, with some elevation change. This is not suitable for people requiring assistance from mobility devices (rollators, wheelchairs etc.) Join us as we create community, savor the natural splendor of the Pacific Northwest, and practice praying with our bodies, hearts, and neighbors. This walk will be primarily facilitated by Christine Naylor. If you have any questions about the event, contact Ann at ann@francisspctr.com. We have three price options available ($10, $25, $40). Please choose the amount that works best for you. Minimum 5 and Maximum 10 participants. Subject to weather conditions. We will notify you three days in advance if we need to cancel.
