Service Description

Take your spiritual contemplation outside! Join Ann Steigerwald and others on the water for a facilitated experience of reflection while paddling a kayak or paddle board. Ann will bring some readings from beloved St. Francis along with some reflection questions for you to consider as you paddle in quiet with others. We will meet at Cook Park along the Tualatin River in Tigard at 8:45am with an aim to be on the water by 9:15 am. Parking is free, but limited along the river. You may need to drop your stuff and park within walking distance. As a group, we will do a leisurely paddle towards the 99W bridge and back. We will stop at intervals on the river for some shared reflection . There will be no opportunity to get out of your boat during this 2 hour trip. This experience requires previous boating experience and the physical capacity to get into and out of kayaks or paddle boards on the boat ramp. We will NOT be offering instruction on kayaking or paddle boarding although we will provide safety instructions and guidance. Participants will need to be comfortable with being in cold moving water, deeper than 8 feet. Everyone will be required to wear a PFD/Lifejacket at all times. Bring your own kayak/ paddleboard if you wish (or rent from outfitter there) and together we will plan to launch on the Tualatin river by 9:15 am PDT. If you do not have your own kayak or standup paddleboard, you can reserve one at: https://tualatinriverkeepers.org/river-experiences/river-rentals/cook-park-river-rentals Single kayaks/ paddle boards generally rent for $35/3 hrs and double kayaks for $55/ 3 hours. The outfitter provides life vests, which will be required for this event. After our paddle, consider joining us for an informal picnic lunch ( bring your own food). There are picnic tables available. Join us as we create community, savor the natural splendor of the Pacific Northwest, and practice praying with our bodies, hearts, and neighbors. Minimum 5 and Maximum 10 participants. Subject to weather conditions. We will notify you three days in advance if we need to cancel. If you have any questions about the event, contact Ann at ann@francisspctr.com. We have three price options available ($10, $25, $40). Please choose the amount that works best for you.
