Paddling with the Mystics: July 25 10:45

Service Description

Take your spiritual contemplation outside! Join Ann Steigerwald and others on the water for a facilitated experience of reflection while paddling a kayak or paddle board. Ann will bring some readings from Hildegard Von Bingen along with some reflection questions for you to consider as you paddle in quiet with others. We will meet at Estacada Lake found in Milo McIver State Park in Estacada at 10:45am and plan to be on the water by 11:15 am . A map with the meet up spot will be sent to you after registration. Parking is $5 for a day pass or free with an OR State park pass. As a group, we will do a leisurely paddle towards the arching bridge and back. We will stop at intervals on the lake for some shared reflection . There will be no opportunity to get out of your boat during this 1.5 hour trip. This experience requires previous boating experience and the physical capacity to get into and out of kayaks or paddle boards on the boat ramp. We will NOT be offering instruction on kayaking or paddle boarding although we will provide safety instructions and guidance. Participants will need to be comfortable with being in cold moving water, deeper than 8 feet. Everyone will be required to wear a PFD/Lifejacket at all times. Bring your own kayak/ paddleboard if you wish (or rent from outfitter there) and together we will plan to launch on the Estacada Lake by 11:15 am PDT. The outfitter provides life vests, which will be required for this event. After our paddle, consider joining us for an informal picnic lunch ( bring your own food). Another group from the Franciscan Spiritual Center will also be present. Join us as we create community, savor the natural splendor of the Pacific Northwest, and practice praying with our bodies, hearts, and neighbors.
