Service Description
Take your spiritual contemplation outside! Join Ann Steigerwald on the water for a facilitated experience of reflection while paddling a kayak or paddle board. Ann will bring some readings from St. Francis along with some reflection questions for you to hold and consider as you paddle in quiet with others. The group will meet up 2-3 times to share together during this experience. We will meet at George Rogers Park in Lake Oswego at 9:30am and plan to be on the water at 10am . Look for us at the far left of the beach near the boat rental facility. Parking is free but limited, allow time to walk down from upper parking lot. As a group, we will do a leisurely paddle close to shore up to Hog Island and back. We will stop at intervals on the river for some reflection and if space allows, we will also make a stop on the island to stretch. This experience requires previous boating experience and the physical capacity to get into and out of kayaks on the boat ramp. We will NOT be offering instruction on kayaking although we will provide safety instructions and guidance. Participants will need to be comfortable with being in cold moving water, deeper than 8 feet. Everyone will be required to wear a PFD/Lifejacket at all times. Bring your own kayak/ paddleboard if you wish (or rent from outfitter there) and together we will plan to launch on the Willamette River by 10am PDT. If you do not have your own kayak or standup paddleboard, make sure you reserve one soon at: https://aldercreek.com/rental-overview/george-rogers-park-lake-oswego-kayak-rentals-sup-rentals/. Single kayaks generally rent for $35 and double kayaks for $45/ 2 hours. The outfitter provides life vests, which will be required for this event. After a two-hour paddle, we will gather for lunch back at George Rogers Park launching site (where there are picnic tables). Parking at the launch is free. Join us as we create community, savor the natural splendor of the Pacific Northwest, and practice praying with our bodies, hearts, and neighbors. Minimum 5 and Maximum 10 participants. Subject to weather conditions. We will notify you three days in advance if we need to cancel. If you have any questions about the event, contact Ann at ann@francisspctr.com. We have three price options available ($10, $25, $40). Please choose the amount that works best for you.
